Snowdays Shavery: Snow You Should Eat

Snowdays Shavery
Okay. So... Practically everyone knows about this place by now but I still wanted to write a quick review on this awesome place since it will probably be around for a while. I went to Snowdays Shavery on a sunny October day after eating some delicious Spanish sandwiches at BIKINIS. You always need dessert after a great meal. So, Aileen and I decided to go try out, which opened sometime in August 2014. The shop looks like a regular ice cream/shaved ice establishment. There aren't too many seats, which sucks because even the smallest serving size looks like it's meant to be shared between friends so it would be easier to sit down and eat.

We ordered "Yeti Food" because it sounds delicious and it's also one of the most popular things on their menu. When they gave us our order, I realized that this was no average snow cone. I was expecting some normal, boring snow cones but instead I was given this amazingly photogenic art of a food. Seriously though. Look how beautiful the thing is. It's photogenic from every angle... like me

Yeti Tracks Snow Cream, Bananas, Sugar cones, and a Blueberry PureeThe Yeti Food came with Yeti Tracks Snow Cream, Bananas, Sugar Cones, and a Blueberry Puree. The Yeti Tracks Snow Cream is essentially blue cookies and cream, which is awesome. Also, it's important to understand that they don't serve shaved ice and you can tell that it isn't shaved ice from your first bite. It's actually "Snow Cream", which brings together the texture of shaved ice and the creaminess of ice cream into one bowl of love. They produce this by taking blocks of frozen cream and placing them into this crazy cool machine that shaves the block into long, thin strips of ice rather than tiny, crushed ice cubes. I don't know who came up with this but it's genius. It's things like this that restore my faith in humanity.

If you're in New York City right now, go check out this place before the winter apocalypse comes and kills your appetite for cold things :)

  1. You are definitely more photogenic than the Yeti Food. Getting pocky stuck in it makes it even more photogenic!
