The Teddy Roosevelt Lounge: If You Can Drink It, You Can Do It

Welcome to DisneySea! If you're reading this, I'm going to guess you're probably at DisneySea trying to turn up. Well, you've come to the right place! I hope. The first time I found out that DisneySea had a lounge, I couldn't believe it. I knew I had to go. It was my calling. I had a great time at this classy establishment. It didn't feel tacky at all, which I was semi-expecting. I couldn't have been more wrong! The Teddy Roosevelt Lounge is located inside the S.S. Columbia, which legit models a 20th-century steam-powered ocean liner.

PRO TIP: Go at an off-time, like between 2pm to 4pm, to avoid the crowds. I went around 3pm and had to wait about 20-25 minutes. Not too bad!

The line starts out the door. You can't actually wait inside the lounge. I think they do this to preserve the atmosphere inside. As soon as you walk in, you'll understand why. The lounge had a very aged, yet ambient, atmosphere. From the wooden floors to the wooden bar, everything was intricately designed to replicate an early 20th-century lounge. It was also scattered with some Teddy Roosevelt references and memorabilia. Most notably, there are some carved wooden bears standing on the bar as if they are holding up the ceiling. This is a great reference to Teddy Roosevelt's love for hunting and the outdoors.

For my visit, I sat at the bar and had an impressive view of the bar in action. I recommend the bar for great picture taking but the rest of the lounge is really great too. There are even leather seats... that surround a small fireplace... under a large chandelier... hanging from a vibrantly colored ceiling. Super elaborate.

Overall, I highly recommend dedicating an hour and half to the Teddy Roosevelt Lounge. It's a great experience and I loved the meal. It was an awesome afternoon snack and some of the rides were probably a bit more exciting too! I was definitely a little bit tipsy. I think I almost got lost trying to find my way to a ride.

For your reference, the total cost of the meal was around $70 (USD).

Singapore Sling at The Teddy Roosevelt Lounge in DisneySea Japan

To start, we got two cocktails. I got a Singapore Sling. This is a classic drink from... Singapore! It's made with Gin, Cherry Liqueur, Cointreau, DOM Bénédictine, Grenadine, Pineapple Juice, Lime Juice, and Angostura Bitters. It should be shaken, served straight up, and garnished accordingly. I think that the Singapore Sling I had at the Teddy Roosevelt Lounge was simplified to Gin, Grenadine, Pineapple Juice, and maybe some Cointreau. This was definitely not shaken. Not exactly the same? But, sort of close enough. At least they garnished it with a Pineapple and a Cherry! It came with a cute Disney stirrer though.

Next was the Piña Colada. It definitely tasted like one too! Fascinating. Traditionally, it should have one part Rum, one part Coconut milk, and three parts Pineapple juice (1-1-3). But, if you're having a bad day and want to have a great day, you can do (3-1-1).

Chef's Special Sandwich with Snow Crab, Avocado, and French Fries at The Teddy Roosevelt Lounge in DisneySea Japan

Even though we just had lunch, we had to try some food. It's bad to drink on empty stomach right??? There was a chef's special sandwich, which came with Snow Crab, Avocado, and French Fries. These were quite tiny for the cost but, honestly, where else could you find Snow Crab and Avocado sandwiches in a theme park? It was pretty satisfying though. We would definitely order it again.

Tea Chiffon Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream at The Teddy Roosevelt Lounge in DisneySea Japan

Then, for our mid-afternoon dessert, we got a Tea Chiffon Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream. A Chiffon Cake is made using vegetable oil instead of butter. It's similar to a sponge cake. It was really light, topped with whipped cream, and drizzled with caramel.

Chambord Royale at The Teddy Roosevelt Lounge in DisneySea Japan

Two cocktails weren't enough and we realized we didn't know when we'd be back! So, I took the liberty in ordering us two more cocktails. For myself, I got the Chambord Royale (see below on the left). I've never tried this before but I loved it. It's just a flute glass with Chambord Liqueur (about a quarter ounce) then topped with champagne. It's pure, sweet, and simple. I'd recommend this as a good celebratory drink if you want to enhance your champagne game.

DisneySea's 15th Anniversary Special Cocktail at The Teddy Roosevelt Lounge in DisneySea Japan

We also ordered the DisneySea 15th Anniversary Special Cocktail (see below on the right). This one was probably my favorite drink of the afternoon. It was made with Rum, Apple Pie Syrup, and Cider. It came out looking gorgeous with a little yellow rose-like flower in the cocktail. This one was probably the best one in terms of looks and taste. The Apple Pie Syrup was probably the killer ingredient that added extra sweetness and a hint of cinnamon
